Leaders on tags

How can you adjust the length of leaders on tags? For example, the basic wall tag has a long leader line associated with it. Is there a way to set a smaller "offset" distance for the tag from the wall?

when you place it there is an option in the option bar for the length of the offset. the arrowhead is controled by the properties of the tag.
