To all Auto-CAD users:

Part of my Process Improvement Project this year is to Create/Develop a database matrix with the help of available tools in Auto-CAD 2005 and existing drawing showing all building plans inside the facility with various x-reference drawing laid over such as underground and overhead utility lines, etc.

My objective is to create a matrix data showing history of any occurrence/issue/cost of maintenance or repair how often the replacement or repair occurred of any particular item in a year. Such item like hundred units of door hardwares, pipe fittings. bathroom fixtures, roof leaks and others.

By utilizing powerful tools like x-reference, blocks w/ attributes and the new tables in Auto-CAD 2005 and other existing tricks do you think I can create a Master Plan that I can see at a glance how often that particular items making trouble calls and how much total cost the company are spending for carpentry, plumbing repair a year? Any idea is highly appreciated.

Thanks,

I would have to say the answer to your question is "Maybe", depending on how much experience you have with lisp/vba.
I'm assuming you will want to link your drawings to access and/or excel which will require some programming on your part.
There are alot of good resources available for what you are trying to accomplish.
Hope this helps!
