Lock and split

If I align and lock a wall or sketch line to reference plane and then split this line or wall, only 1 segments stays locked the other gets unlocked.

What is the reason behind this behavior. I would assume both stay'd locked to the ref.

Internally, after the split one piece is still the original element and remembers its constraints. The other is a new element and does not get any of the existing constraints. It is often not obvious which constraints would make sense if recreated on the new piece. This uncertainty makes it difficult to provide a robust programmatic solution.
