Alright so I have started a 3 story nursing home project using groups for all the Suites and now I need more help so we have decided to use worksets to have multiple users on the project. I am fairly new to using worksets but understand that you assign areas or portions of the project to different worksets so the user can work on assigned areas. Anyways, my problem is that, when I am assign all the Suites (in groups) to a workset, and have my partner assigned to the Suites Workset, it seems that he has to request permition from me to work on the suites ( I have everything else but the suites on a different workset). Am I doing something wrong? PLEASE HELP!!!

A. Have you done the tutorial/training on wroksets. If not - that should be task #1.
B. Have you checked the Suites back in so he can work on them?

I have done the training and have also checked the Suites back in so he can work on them, its just that from the training session, it seems that the suites would be in there own workset so i would not have to check them out or in.

I have figured it out. I had the properties of the group set for a different Workset than Suites. I just figured when i selected all the suites and changed them to the Suites Workset, the editing option would go to the Suites Workset as well.

if you have every other workset checked out and your partner has the Suites checked out, anytime he/she affects an element in your checked out workset an Edit Request will be triggered (like moving a column or wall). you both should not be checking out the worksets but rather leave the worksets Noneditable so that you both are borrowers of whatever you happen to be working on at the time. that way you can both be working in any workset you want and will only trigger an ER if you are both tugging on the same element/component.

First of all no one should be signing out worksets -- make sure of this. Do a Save to Central and ensure that you have relinquished all user-created worksets.

I hope you're doing the project in Revit 8.1!
