Okay--I don't want to use the "b" word, so I'll be optimistic and assume that I am doing something wrong here.
I am noticing (irritatingly) that whenever I put a vew on a sheet and rename it from say something specific like "Level 2" to "Typical Office Floor Plan" and then click "no" when it asks me if I would like to change the corresponding view title, it changes it in my view browser anyway. Has anyone else encountered this? It is driving me nuts today.

It does change the View Name when you do this. To break this connection, go to the properties of the viewport, and go down to "Title on Sheet" under Identity Data. Put the name you want here, and then you can have separate view names, view on sheet names, and level names.

Okay, that makes sense, but why does it give you the choice of changing associated view names when you really don't have a choice? Or am I missing something?

Because you really are changing the view name... the viewport name is linked to the view name until you enter the "View on Sheet" parameter.
HTH?

The dialog is asking if you want to rename the associated level and views. As Wes said, you are actually changing the view name itself. So if you answer no, it still changes the view name, but it won't change the name of the associated level and other views such as the ceiling plan. If you answer yes, it will rename these other associated views as well.

Okay--makes sense in the italicized context. ;) It's funny how when you move to a completely different kind of work you encounter different things that had never previously come up with...maybe it's that week I took off between jobs--got me all confused and unable to understand English.
