View Full Version : Stepped stair landing

I have an "L" shaped stair that due to space restrictions I need to add a step at a 45 degree angle across the landing, (this one step would kinda simulate a spiral staircase).

It seems using boundaries should work here but I'm not having much luck.

Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

Do you mean like this ?

A riser was sketched across the landing.

If he did mean it, how did you do it? Does 'a riser sketched across the landing' assume you had (3) separate stair setups? Or do you manually draw the treads in plan view? Your stringers appear as if the entire stair was done as a single setup.

Stair was done as a run. Riser was added across landing. Top riser was deleted and boundary lines trimmed.

yep, that's what I meant. Can you give more detail on how you accomplished it? I tried the run and I tried boundaries. I had no luck with either so I guess I'm missing something.

Just create a normal run L shaped stairs then click riser button and draw the 45 degrees line but since you are adding one new riser you need to delete one riser say the top most riser line then trim your boundary at the top as mentioned by beegee....

I've been doing this for quite some time now the issue that I have when making this winder stair is that I used to be able to make a monolithic winder stair in version 7 but not not in version 8.1 it will give an error and will not create the stair why? Has this been changed?

okay thanks, that did it.

I think I was trying to make it harder that it was. :)

i bet it's there but at the wrong elevation. try looking at a 3d view and zoom out to see if there is a mysterious 'dot' on your view.

bottom line, check your base levels and offsets in stair properties.

This is a great tip. I was killing myself over this and this definitely worked!!
