I have a situation where I have a railing on a stair going from level 1 to level 2. There is a balcony at the second level which connects to the stair which will need the same railing.

In order to do this, I edited the sketch of the stair railing and added the segments for the balcony. In 3d views, this works great, but when I go to a floor plan view the railing displays beneath the second floor.

I can make them seperate railings and it works fine, but then the rails, etc. do not join at the top of the stairs like they should. Anyone know how to fix this?

thanks,
Steve

ok, should have done more research first. How about I answer my own question...

Draw the railing on the second level, not the first.

So it's a pretty easy workaround, but why it acts that way may be something to look into...

I frequently have the same issue, it has something to do with revit making symbol lines for the railing and when you edit it it doesn't know which level to show them on. I end up either usiing the linework tool or do sep. railings.
