Hello

Just starting SD phase with Revit Building 8.1. I have created massing blocks one level deep to represent program elements, sitting on their correct levels. I'd like to attach these program massing blocks to the level above, rather than assign a depth of 14', for instance. If I move the next level after creating a mass it is left behind, and I have to reset the depth for each mass individually to "re-attach" it to the next floor.

Secondly, is there any way to assign a room tag to a mass, such that it reports the square footage? I have assigned a floor area face to the mass at the level it sits on, and used the room separation tool, but it doesn't seem to work.

thanks!

In an elevation view, edit the massing family and select one of the solid forms. Drag the top handle up so it snaps to the level above you want; you should see a lock icon -- click it to lock.

As far as I know rooms can't be directly associated to massing, but you can create different mass families to delineate different uses.

there cant be a room tag without a room. Cant be an area tag without a building. Hence the only option would be to use the Mass Schedule to get the Floor Areas and put the schedule close to the building on a sheet.

Or place a Mass Tag next to the Mass, to get the information.
