Tapered Extrusion

Could someone please tell me how to make a tapered solid? I am trying to make a kiva fireplace.

The blend option will probably give you what you need. Also conside that what you are trying to achieve may not be possible with a single solid. Combine with voids to cut the blend geometry and you should be able to get the results you're after.
