I upgraded to both ADT 2006 and 3ds MAX 8 recently and have a problem.

When I link an ADT file to 3ds I select the "entity, blocks as nodes" option. In previous versions, this would separate the elements of AEC objects into individual objects; windows in ADT were glass, sash and frame in MAX. I preferred this for the control I had in applying materials and effects. It seems this is no longer the case. Object import as AEC object no matter what. A window in ADT is an AECwindow in MAX.

Is there a way around this? Is it the new ADT or the new 3ds or both?

Either way, it shouldn't be an issue. The materials in MAX that are listed for doors/windows, are a multi-subobject material with channels already assigned to the appropriate parts of the object. You'll want to learn about multi-subobject materials if you haven't already. VERY useful to be able to place many materials in one container & apply it to one object.

Steve,

At the time I was having this problem I was rushed but I will try again to see if this is the case. But, is my previous preference of method no longer available?

Thanks,
Steve
