I have a building with all walls going up to a 10-ft. bearing height. Now I'm trying to place ceilings and 9 ft., but probably half the rooms in the entire building give me the little "no" symbol when I try to place the ceilings. The rest of the rooms place fine. If I change my ceiling height to 7 ft., it will place fine, and then I can move it to 9 ft., but that's a pain. I can't understand why it won't create a 9 ft. ceiling in a room completely bounded by 10 ft. walls, but it WILL create them at 7 ft. Any idea what could be causing this behavior?

The only time I have had trouble w/ceilings not auto-ing is when some of my walls do not close or I have a soffit that is not quite right in height. and for those I have to either slect walls or draw a polyline around the room.

Do they work when you do it manually?

Are they in the same Design Option or Phase? or Workset?

Everything is in the same phase. Workset shouldn't matter, and there are no design options. All the walls seem to join as they should.

I know I'm answering this way later, but if you ever have this problem again, change your work plane and make sure you're at the base floor level. I had this same issue and it was driving me crazy, come to find out my work plane was set at the window sill, so it was trying to find places to put ceilings 8 feet above my window sill height and it wasn't finding any of the spaces.

The other thing that messes them up right now is room bounding columns and walls that don't trim to each other. Columns do not define boundaries for the ceiling feature at this time. Any room that has columns in-between walls and the walls do not trim or clean-up with each other will not be able to automatically generate a ceiling sketch.
