adjusting version 5 family

I wanted to import a family that I have made for Revit 5.0 once, it updates and works just fine.. BUT now I wanted to add a new parameter to it, so I opened the family and ~ :cry: ~ no way! If I add a parameter in the family types I can no longer close the family types window? Also I seem to be unable to add more types?

Does this mean I need to start from scratch again instead of adding new functionality to my existing families? pleas tell me it is not so...

There must be a constraint that is failing? Does it give you an error message? You should be able to see a highlighted element where a constraint is failing, and you'll probably need to delete and re-create that reference plane or solid object within the family. That is what I've most commonly run into so far.

Post the family if you'd like and describe where you get held up.
