Check out the task manager and revits use of over 900 meg ram, anyone else seen this?

I think that will really depend on what you are working on. Bigger model - more ram.

I think i've read and it's been well publicized that Revit is a ram hog.

The rule of thumb I've been given is RAM usage will be about 20x the compacted file size. This is really rough -- constraints, funky geometry etc will all affect RAM and resource consumption.

I rarely see it this high except when rendering, perhaps its normal for revit to try to use this much ram but the program slows down exponentially with basic commands when ram usage is over 500 meg - at least with my experience. (unless ram usage is always this high and just sometimes affects system performance)

Usually i notice a system slowdown and will check task manager for revit or another program thats causing the ram meltdown.

The model is aproximatly 40meg now compacted but ranges in size - no documentation for the file yet has been done.

Oh... rendering! Ya -- Revit uses all the RAM when rendering
