I am currently inputting an existing building into Revit for an upcoming renovation project. I would like to be able to input the existing conditions with everything assigned to the Existing Construction Phase. So far the only thing I have been able to do is draw the building elements, then go back and change the phase to existing. Is there a way I can set this from the beginning so everything is drawn / modeled as part of the existing phase?
Also, is there any setting so that existing wall and new walls don't clean up at intersections?

Simply create an Existing plan view, with the view's phase set to Existing, and the filter set to Show New or Show Complete or whatever you like. It will look like new construction in that particular view, because it's as if you have set the project's "clock" back to the time when that existing stuff was first built. Then, you can either not have the view on a sheet (i.e. it's just a working view for inputting existing items), or if you want to show it as a view with everything shown as existing, then simply change the view's phase setting back to New Construction, and the filter to Show Previous.

If you select the wall that you do not want to clean up, right click on the grip and select "disallow join".
