I'm trying to work with another firm's standards which include RomanS as their typical font. I can set text and labels to RomanS and enable bold. However, I can't enable bold in the dimstyle. Unfortunately then the dimension text prints out very light... any ideas?

open your fonts folder and there may be sep. font files for romans, romansbold, etc. just delete the normal one(assuming you don't want it) then they will all be bold by default.

You could try using RomanD for your dimensions instead. It's a heaver version of RomanS. Although it's probably not their standard, it'll at least print correctly. It would be a simple change for them if they ever receive dwg files from you and they don't like it.

RomanS displays and prints very light for me as well. I use RomanD in dimension strings instead and in displays and prints much better. I wonder why RomanS displays and prints so lightly and why you cannot use RomanS(Bold) in dimension strings?

Perhaps the "s" and "d" are like the font Archs, Archd and ArchT? S = single stroke and d = double stroke and T = triple stroke...so in effect RomanS is light and RomanD is bold.

...of course these are AutoCAD fonts. So D=Bold makes perfect sense. ;)

Although about 13 years too late to this thread, I ran into the same problem with the weight of Romans font. I was able to run the font through an editor and adjust the weight. I then converted the font to .ttf. Let me know if you want this font file.

Hello, David.
I had this problem for about 5 years without response. I want the file you edited.
Thank you!
