Combined Elect Power & Lighting Plan

I would like to setup an electrical power / lighting plan for residential.
Lights only attach to clgs (other than dumb symbols) and the only way I know to show both power and lights is to drag one view on top of the other on a sheet?

I have read other threads on this subject and the consensus seams to be to use dumb symbols. Has this changed.

I would just drag the two views on top of each other on the sheet. Don't do the "dumb" symbols.

I agree, stay away from the "dumb" symbols.

I use a reflected ceiling plan cut at the 1' level for plans showing lights and power.

I know other people who add an invisible line to lighting families so that they will be cut and thus show up in the plan.

Are you adding a line from the fixture vert to the floor?

Yes, Thats the process I described.
Personally I don't do it. I think it causes other visibility problems, and I always try to be a purist.
But, It is good to know the rules so we can break them when we need to.

Yes, add an invisible line from the fixture to the floor. The trick is to draw the line AWAY from your fixture from the ceiling to the floor and lock it to both of those, THEN align it to your fixture center line. I have found that you you lock the horizontal before the vertical (only with lights) that the invisible line with sometimes lock to the floor above (crazy bug).

Didn't know this. Set view for First Floor Electrical Plan, go to View Properties, set Underlay for First Floor Plan, set Underlay Orientation for Reflected Ceiling Plan and my lights are there.

Underlay Orientation.. Whhhhhhaaaaa..... ? How long has that been there? I'll have to play with it, but wouldn't the lights be too light because it is an underlay?

It's been there a long time, but I have never been able to get that to work right. Half the time I'll get what looks like the 2nd floor plan showing when I set the underlay to 1st floor RCP, or vice versa, or other crazy things.
