View Full Version : UK users - Submit-a-plan and creating HPGL2 plot files
How many people are using Submit-a-plan for Bregs applications?
Rather than allow submissions via pdf files they have, for some reason, insisted on HPGL2 plot files and recommend the HP Design-jet 3000 print driver.
I can't get this driver to work with revit, but it works with ADT.
If I export the print page to ADT, I can print to HPGL2 but I get massive files - bigger than submit-a-plan will allow.
So I have to export each view separately, and then reformat them in ADT and then I get a much smaller HPGL2 file.
How do I get small HPGL2 plot files straight from revit?
As an aside, it will be good when they merge with the planning portal.

I will try to remember to give it a try tomorrow, but, are you sure about not being able to submit PDF's? I was sure that I read somewhere on their site that PDF's were ok . .

On the planning portal site there a a CAD guidance document - trying to attach the link below - which is happy about using PDF. See if it helps.

The planning portal allows pdfs, but www.submitaplan.com does not

How about print to DWF first then print to HPGL2? It's how I make my multi-page PDFs; perhaps it will help your problem.
I'd probably make sure I was only printing B&W lines, too.

DG I see a HP 3000cs on their site, is that the one you are using? I will download the drivers later and see if they work on my machine.
Yes, I have installed the 3000cs driver. And if I recall, I got either a file of 0k size, or a file which was unreadable - I don't rmember which, I will try again later

I managed to get a 1.4MB file output that mostly looks correct - some elements of my title block appear a bit on a slope and my logo looks kinda stoned and overlayed with cyan (its a jpg insert). I also tried my HP800 driver and this produced a 2.2MB file with no logo and straight but not very good quality text.
PDF file is 239kb and perfect . . . .
Verdict, not perfect and therefore not acceptable for putting in front of Building Control. Solution, set up a meeting with the relevant government department and present a case for using PDF output . . . you will probably get some action . . . by 2048 . . .
