is it possible to set a reference plane from 3 points? seems like it should be pretty simple, but i can't figure it out... am i just being dense?

Unfortunately I don't think you can. I wish you could, though...

Not sure about the 3 points but since you are putting your ref plane in a specific view, and in the mena time from a specific plane, picking the last 2 points to define, make it act like a 3 point.

I'm not sure I'm getting your suggestion, Daniel. How do you choose the 2 points to define a plane? is it done after the ref. plane is drawn? it sounds like that is exactly what I'm looking for, but I'm still not seeing that option.

Thanks in advance for your input.

For example, when you draw a ref plane on the Level 1, this plane will always be perpendicular to Level 1. That takes care of 1 point.
Then you click the start and finish of your fer plane, that makes point 2 and 3.
Does it make any more sense ?

i'm not sure we're talking about the same thing. from what you've said, it seems that this would only allow you to modify the end points of the reference plane created parallel to level 1, which is still only defined by 2 points.... i was hoping for a way to create a skewed plane based on existing points, edges, etc. within the model. specifically to facilitate sloped floor blends for a church sanctuary...

Same principle apply. Draw a ref plane from an elevation and use it to create a slope floor. Would you have an example to provide me ?

the attached file shows the 2 spots where i need the "skewed" ref planes. the other sloped floors are standard floor elements with slope arrows added, however, i can't get this to work for the two remaining triangular sections. i'd like to be able to pick the three corners to define the plane, but no luck.

Use an inplace floor family build with blend and void

Trying to do the same thing today -- driving us nuts. I set the work plane in one view then created a cross section and rotated it. I'm not even sure it is correct. Would be nice to be able to pick it with 3 points.
