looking for an old white paper on material

I had at one time a while ago found a white paper on scaling materials for renderings. I can't find it and I searched all the discussion groups with no result. Does anyone remember this and know where I can find it or find some other tutotial on scaling and adusting material images.

There are other tutorials at Accurenders site that are also worth reading.
