Computer for Map 3D and Arc GIS 9.1 editor level

We use AutoCAD Map 3D at my office although I am not familiar with the 3D side of it. We also sue Arc GIS 9.1 Editor level. I want to buy a new computer that will maximize the benefits of Map 3D and Arc GIS. I am looking for suggestions as to what computer and components to buy such as size of memory, size of hard drive, graphics card, 64 bit versus 32 bit machine, etc... I want this to be the best computer 2-3 years down the road as well.
