Is it true that only one person can access a civil 3d file for one job at a time. For example, if I am working in my grading drawing and some one needs to work in the utility drawing for the job, will they be able to do so like in LDT. We work with mulitple people needing to work out of the same job and drawings during a major design project and from what I have been hearing is that C3d is set up for one drafter to do all of the work and monitor all of the drawing himself. It doesnt seem like it can have multi-user capablities like LDT.

Is this true? Can some explain how this works?

If your grading and piping data is in the same drawing you both couldn't open that drawing. Which that is the way its always been with Autodesk. Now you can have data linked between files. So in your grading drawing you can set up a data shortcut. Then in the piping drawing you can use that shortcut to import the grading data into the piping drawing. Then any changes you make will update in the other drawing.

Hope that makes since.

What Glenn said. Kinda like a LIVE xref only using the data access along with the graphics. Wait till you see 07 though! Since they have announced it, I am really excited about the Vault with 3D.
