Group;
I have a couple of questions about the new sectioning tools for AutoCAD
2007.
How do the sectioning tools work?
Must the view of the section be in the same drawing or can it be in another
drawing?
Do you get live updates of the view if the section's location is changed?
Would you still get the live updates if it's an Xref?
Is this the same old Acad engine or did they incorporate some other engine
into AutoCAD?

Hi Edward
Please note I have *moved* this thread from the AutoCAD 2007 General (http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay.php?f=342) forum to this one, as I feel this particular forum is a more appropriate place for such a topic.
Thanks, Mike

Great questions, many of us likely don't have the answers yet!
How do section tools work? I don't know lots about it yet (going to training in just over a week) but this video may give you a small idea:

Same basic engine in AutoCAD with obvious tweaks...
If no one has answered this thread in total in a couple weeks then shoot me an email, I'll have had time to play with it and will know by then... I'll update the thread at that time if others have not...

I was really inquiring about the new live sectioning feature in AutoCAD 2007.
Here is a video I saw that peeked my interests.
Live Sectioning (http://www.autodesk.com/global/blogs/heidihewett/2007/12LiveSectioning.htm)
I see in the video that the section view generated is just a block that needs to be replaced if it needs to be updated.
I like how you can cut a live section through the model and see it update as you move it. I was curious if this new feature required a new engine to make it happen.
I also though it was a live link and was parametric; but I was mistaken.

I think that that's two different things -
1. an update of solprof/solview/soldraw
2. openGL display.
