You can manually set the height of any wall to any desired plate height or insert levels of the various plate heights and set the wall heights to those levels.

Hi, I am a new user of Revit and I am trying to do a roof on a (930sf)
home that has different plate heights. This is no problem for me
in 2d but I just can do it with Revit. I know this must be very
easy for a lot of you. If anyone can help I can send you this .rvt file

Welcome to the Forums......I'm not sure I understand your problem here...is it the forming the roof to spring from 2 different heights? There can be a few ways to it, but I think the simplest way is this:
1. Choose Roof by Footprint from the Design Toolbar.
2. Select all the walls and the sketch lines appear.
3. Select those lines that are springing from the upper height and "right click" ...a select properties from the menu that appears.
4. Go to the option of "Plate offset from base" and enter the upper plate height (i.e. the distance between the upper and lower plates)
5. Select Finish Roof

It is a combination of 5 roofs using "roofs by footprint" and adjusting the plate offsets. use pick walls whenever possible to ensure they plane properly. I left the overlapping roofs in place without cleaning up which you can see from the underside when orbiting.

Thanks, I have been with this for about 2 weeks
but at least I know It can be done. I will try to do
what you told me as soon as I finish some work
I have to do. It would be nice If you could send
me your .rvt file if you can. I wouldn't know how
to clean up this roof also.

You should've let me know if you had trouble understanding the file i sent you.

In my version i used a mass so as i could keep the roof as one element. For simplicity though Doug's method is probably easier to understand.

Just resent it. It appears I forgot to attach the file the first time... :)

Note it wasn't completely finished, you just need to do they bay window roof.

I have taken a different approach that seems to work perfectly in this particular case

This does require creating the 2d roof plan geometry (or to the best of your ability) first. I used AutoCAD to draw the 2d roof plan then imported the dwg file. In this case it seems the 2d roof plan is readily available.

Then you simply trace the 2d linework with a REVIT footprint roof using 'Lines' not 'Pick Walls'. Add your slopes and set the roof Base Level and Offset from Base Level.

You do have to break the overall roof down into 4 major parts.

Mixing up the 'Pick Walls' tool with the 'Lines' tool during roof sketching creates problems for beginners. I try to stick to one or the other per roof.
