OK, one nice part about my new job at a reseller is that now I have the time to do this right. The 'BARUGA' ;) has a home, a regular meeting schedule, and will soon have a website too. Here's the post for the meeting, please feel free to forward this to whomever you wish (and could someone with the right bump this up to the annoucements- thanks)
Bay Area Revit User's Group Kick-Off Meeting
Hello Fellow Revit users and those curious about Revit! Join fellow users of BIM technology in the formation of a local Revit users group. Now that many northern California offices have begun to use this tool, our hope is to develop a local community of interest to share best practices, problems, tips, information, and to let people network with other firms & companies that are using Revit. We will start meeting on the third Tuesday of every month at the San Francisco AIA office.
We hope for this User's group to be informative for both those who haven't started working with Revit yet and those users with years of experience.
For the first portion of the evening, we will be presenting a general overview of what's new in Revit 6.1, demonstrating such new powerful features as Design Options, Conditional Statements, and much more.
Then we will take an intermission break, with snacks and drinks, giving everyone the chance to hob-nob and talk, as well as ask questions.
Then we will move onto the more technical portion of the evening, where we will be presenting complex automated cost estimating by using Revit, it's ODBC exporting, and Excel. See how you can make a 'live' cost model, how a Construction company can use data from Revit (without the Architect having to give them a Revit file), the issues that arise with using ODBC exporting in Revit, and the added value working with Revit and BIM can provide for you & your clients.
We'll have some snacks and sodas. If you can, please e-mail me to say that you are coming, so that I can get a head count. Hope to see you there!
Location: San Francisco AIA Office, San Francisco, CA http://www.aiasf.org/
Date: Tuesday, May 18th, 2004. And then every Third Tuesday of the Month.
Time: 6:00 pm meet, and we'll probably start at around 6:30. The second, more technical portion of the evening should start at around 7 pm.
If you have any questions, please give me a call/email. Hope to see you there!
