cross sections

I have run cross sections in my drawing, and on a few of the section line groups, it is giving me a minimum elevation that is +/_ 500' lower than my actual minimum elevation. The resultant cross sections look like a NY skyline. I have checked my surface tins, and there is nothing extending to these lower elevations. If I explode the cross section, I lose my labels and surface lines.

I there a way to control the minimum elevation for sampled surfaces?

I do not know of a way of limiting elevations like in LDD (though I am interested to find out how), but as for the exploding of your profile, that can be done if you window the profile and all entities within rather than just selecting the profile view. You will loose your interoperability and may crash civil 3d later on when something tries to associate with your profile, but you can still do it to play around with.
