Is there a way to automatically dimension walls to
rough width of doors?

the dimension command ignores the opening and seems to use
Width parameter of doors.

Maybe this should be in the wish list if it is not possible

In the dimension-options command there would be 3 options
measure openings to
center
width
rough width

Hi Tom,

If I remember rightly the rough width and height are not parameters used in the families as a default, they are there in the template for what ever reason. So unless your family employs the use of these as contraints etc and you have reference planes then you should be able to tab to the required element to dimension to.

That is generally correct leediggle.

You will need to add some reference planes to the door family to represent the RO and make them a strong reference so dimensions will find them in the model. You still may need to tab to see the reference since the actual opening is also a Strong Reference. You can control the location of the RO planes by making them EQ to the center of the door, dimensioning them and attaching the RO parameter to the dimension. Will schedule as it does now but can be dimensioned either way.

Thanks for your help!

I changed the reference to strong and now i can manually select them.
However here in Norway all windows and doors are dimensioned to
RO in plans so i dont want to do it manually.

i guess i will have to use Width as rough width and make a parameter with
the true door/window size for schedules
