View Full Version : Is this possible?

I wish to create a furniture family that consists of an armchair type that then can expand to a 2 seater type and then a 3 seater. The 3 seater and 2 seater are identical to the armchair except in length but both have a seam to indicate 2x back cushions. Also the 3 seater has 6 legs. Is it possible with the conditional statements in families to achieve this and if so can someone give me some idea of how to manipulate the visibility? I know it would be something like

show seam = if (length > 3", yes, no)

but I haven't worked out how to hang it together - and which type of parameters I need to create to get there. etc, etc..

Thanks in advance,

I wouldn't bother with a formula, but just create the types you need with the visibility settings....

Doable. Get it close then upload the what you have along with an image illustrating what you want to accomplish.

No doubt someone will tweak and repost.

Hi,

Here are some images.
I fudged the cushion seam in the 3seater.jpg with model lines to show what I want to achieve.
I achieved a middle leg by changing the lenght of the extrusion over a certain length. see param.jpg

But ideally I'd like to switch off the middle leg and cushion seam when the couch is less than 1810.

Here is the family.
I didn't get around to uploading it - I just got too busy for a few days.
I can't figure out how to make it turn off the void that makes the seam when the BL2-1 armchair and BL2-2+ 2 seater family types are selected. I saw somewhere about visibility parameters - but I can't figure it out.

It would be good to do the same with the middle leg but I got around that by changing it's lenght to 1 with an if statement. Don't know if it's relevent but I started this family in 6.0.

Nested the cushion with the void and placed it on top of the solid without the void. One or the other shows based on the Length parameter.

Thanks Phil! That's exactly what I wanted to achieve - nice solution! I didn't realize the Visibilty control was so easy to control.

PS - Sorry for the slow reply - I got busy again.
