I need to create a stepped ceiling for coved lighting. What is the best practice to do this. I've attached a quick dwf sketch (I hope dwf is ok to post).
I'm sure this is really common and easy in Revit, but I have searched the tutorials and previous post but haven't found help. Thanks for any help

If the walls are local partitions (i.e. floor to soffit of floor above) you can probably consider using a vertical compound wall and just adding the sweeps. The other alternative is to use hosted sweeps, you will need to mess around with it to choose whether or not the boxing should be a sweep or a section of ceiling and a soffit.

Thanks Peter,
I haven't done much with vertical compound walls or sweeps yet but its a great time to learn. It really helps to ask more experianced users what is the best way to do something like this. Thanks again for all your help.

We have accomplished this 2 ways.
The first few times we used the ceiling and wall tool to create the stepped ceiling. It was a little cumbersome as you had to sketch right on top of the previous ceiling and then trace over with the walls and adjust the top and bottom. However when cut in section for the detail it looked great and only needed a little drafting (and of course notes and dims.)
We since have been using an in place ceiling family with a sweep shape and profile of the ceiling. We started doing this because one of the rooms was odd shaped and people kept changing the heights of the soffits and moving lights around etc. I created a profile of the ceiling shape, loaded it and swept it in the ceiling family. When the ceiling was changed I edited the profile, reloaded it and bamnew ceiling. Lights were still a problem and dropped out as the ceiling moved but were easy to fix. I will post an example when I located it.

Wow thanks for the attachment so I can look into how you created this. This looks exactly like what I'm trying to do. I'll dig into the file and see if I can follow how you did it. Thanks again, I REALLY appreciate it!

This is a section I am starting - I did this stepped ceiling with an in place family sweep. It was a lot faster than using many little walls and ceilings.
