View Full Version : ADT Door Swing Display PROBLEM in Revit

In Revit 8.1, we are bringing in (as links) DWG unit plans that were drawn in ADT 2006, using OOTB walls and single\double hinged doors. SOME of the ADT doors display the swing in Revit in a flipped orientation. See the attached image for a small example. It's not consistent from right hand to left hand, 90 degree, 45 degree - and even occurs in a OOTB double door ( one of the swings is flipped) !!!
Has anyone run into this problem before ??
Thanks in advance

The image is too small, I edited your post and saved it as a jpg file type so it would show up in the post but it is too small to really see.
Is it possible that the doors that are not behaving are doors that had their original swing position changed at some point? If so that might suggest that Revit is reading some stored default position information on import instead of the override value? Are your files saved in ADT with the variable Proxygraphics = 1?

Sorry about the image - Here's a larger file...I tried to set the proxygraphics to 0, but then Revit won't bring in ANY ADT info. Just blank, with the straight ACAD linework only...
I move the problem doors to other sides of the wall and the swing is corrected. I re-insert new doors in the same position without changing orientation, etc...and the same wrong flipped swing shows. Again, these are all OOTB ADT objects...nothing custom -

I'm going to point the blame on the ADT OOTB content and how it was built  Honestly though to get this sorted out you'll need to talk to Revit Support. Submit a support request and they'll most likely ask for copies of your files.
With all the change between 2004 and 2006 versions of ADT (and now 2007) it wouldn't surprise me if there some subtle change in the object data that Revit isn't aware of...

Thanks - anyone here work for Revit Support ? Anyone have a direct # or easy way to contact someone?
Seriously though - after spending a few days with about every other permutation - I've narrowed the problem down to walls drawn in World UCS at any angle other than 90/270 deg. SO, as long as all my ADT walls "point up" relative to World UCS, the door swings display correctly.
great.
if anyone else out there has seen\heard of this - pls let me know !

My experience trying to use ADT models with Revit is to EXPORT, not save as, the drawing to AutoCAD 2000 format. This will convert all the ADT objects to blocks thus making Revit happier.
Hope this helps
Bill.
