Roof Problem

I don't typically do residential drawings but I've decided to learn Revit outside my little box. I've attached a DWF file of a Townhouse that I'm practicing on. I can't find any information on how to extend my extended gable roofs to the siding under the previous gable ends, it just leaves a hole.

Use the Join Roofs tool, pick the edge of the roof closest to the wall, then select the face of the wall to join to.

I tried that, but I get an error saying "Part of roof to be joined misses the target face" The error says it cannot be ignored. If I choose to Unjoin Elements, nothing seems to be affected. What am I doing wrong?

I've found it to be tricky sometimes. A couple of tricks: Select the Unjoin tool, then select the roof you want to join. When highlighted, in the options bar will be a button "Unjoin from All" select that. Now go back and use the roof join tool and pick the top edge of the eave line of the roof to join, and then the face of the wall for it to join to.

Alos, try using the roof join tool, and try joining to the adjacent roof first, and then do it again to the face of the wall.

If that doesn't work, maybe you can send me the RVT file and I'll see if I can figure it out.

Your directions were very clear and I've tried all that you have suggested, but maybe there is something wrong with how I've constructed this model. I've attached a small portion of the file so you or someone can maybe see if you can make it join. I've sent just a small portion of the file so that it doesn't bog down the system, but if you need the whole file I'd be glad to send that. Thanks for taking the time to help me learn this.

OK! I solved it!

First, re-edit the profile of the walls from the east elevation. Make sure the angled line that floows the roof is at the bottm edge of the roof, not in the middle. Align it is the easiest.

Now, go back to 3D view, and slect the Join tool, and Join the Roof to the adjacent wall. (the one you want to extend to.) Nothing overly apparent will happen.

Now go to the Roof Join tool, pick the edge of the roof, then the adjacent wall. Voila!

Also, I noticed you edited the profile of the wall to conform to the roof above. Why not just attach the wall to the roof?

Thanks alot. As for why I didn't attach the wall to the roof, I haven't done that before and it wasn't working the way I thought it would. Only half of the wall, to the top of the gable would extend. I'll look up how to do that the correct way.
