Summary: The ability to zoom/pan within a snapshot of a file without opening it.

Description: Would like to see AutoCAD have a File Magnifying Glass View.

How Used: I would like to the ability to have a Magnifying Glass View to click on a file and to view it before it opens. Right clicking on the file and select Magnifying Glass view would do this. It would be ideal when you are searching for a block, note etc… Therefore, what you would get is a snap shot on the file. It would be a lot better than the thumbnail view. You could also have the ability to select a tab to see if what you are looking for is on the tab. By having the ability you will now have to open every file and having a risk of altering it by mistake.

Example 1: The Magnifying Glass View of the file, you would have the ability to zoom in to a certain area. If there were, tabs associated with the file. It would allow you to view them also.

Example 2: The thumbnail view, you would not have the ability to zoom in to a certain area. So now you would have to open up the file.

You have to open it to view it. How else would a viewer know what to display?

How about Designcenter and/or it's search functionality. Would be much quicker and accurate than visually looking for something.

Open as read-only.

The thumbnail view is just a bitmap screenshot taken at the time the drawing is saved and is no indication of the current status of the drawing. For example, external references and images may have changed.
