Repeating detail on curved path

Is it possible to let a repeating detail follow a curved path? I need to make a roof similar to the attachment. How do you get the metal profile to curve without having to model it?

Sorry Andrew. It's only a 'linear' tool. Any way to do it using the new aligned hatch patterns for materials in R9?
