Howdy Reviteers! ;)

I just had another question, I am now creating a Site family for this specific purpose of building massing.
I have got as far as Making the model standing erected on site (very cool feature I must say... just goto Setting > family category and parametrers > site > always vertical
I also dimension and labeled the length, width and height of the model and make a specific forumla of LxW (length x Width) to get the area calculation.

But I hit a snag. I can't seem to get the model to be "editable" when click on so I can reshape it anyway I want it to be. How do I make the family to show up a "edit" button once click on?

Also, the Length formula can be set to "type" and "instance"... is that mean if I set to "type", if I change the parameter of the family, everything gets changed?.. I want to keep the massing model as individual from each other.. like walls basically, so is "instance" the one I should choose?

Another thing I found is that when I drop my massing object, it seems that it only work in 3D View > Top, any other view (eg. Site, Floor 1, Floor 2) All makes the object drops to elevation "0", below the terrain.
Does anyone know why? Why can't I drop it from Site view and it will automatically sit on top of the terrain?

As usual, any answers would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!! :D

Make all the parameters instance parameters. Each instance placed will be adjustable without affecting the others.

Check where the top of your site view is set at in view properties. Make sure it's set above your topo surface.

Hi Andrew, :)

Thanks for the reply, I have one question :)
Is there a way to make the model "editable" in sketch mode like the massing model?

No way that I'm aware of. Only through the properties dialog.

You'd just have to build in enough parameters into the model, i.e. roof overhang, ridge height, etc. to cover all the changes you want to make to the model.

Short of that, you'd have to do an in-place model.

If your massing bldg family uses instance parameters you can select a bldg, then hover your cursor over the edge you want to move and then tab until you see "shape handle" offered. Then click and drag the "face" of the bldg you are working with. Try it in an elevation first and do it to the top of a bldg. You can do it other views too, but an elevation will make it a little more obvious.

Steve, thanks for the reply, but I think a lot of my "massing building" are of a little bit complex shape then just boxes..
