I have recently switched from AutoCAD 2002 to AutoCAD 2006. I'm in the process of trying to get used to all the changes. Is there anyway to get the edit text (ddedit) to work like it did in 2002. I find that instead of tagging text and changing it, I have to zoom in tag it and zoom back out. This is adding a considerable amount of time to something that was quick and easy. The dialog box helped me see the text without all the zooming. One other question, is there anyway to turn off the zooming in and out from panning to just displaying? Thanks for any help in advance.

Hi Paula,
Have a look at THIS (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=34610&) thread and see if it helps. Post back, if not.
And for the dynamic zoom, try this thread (Shutting off Dynamic Zoom).

Also, you can zoom while you are editing text as well, you can just roll your wheel and it will zoom in on the text you are editing.
But, that other thread does provide the solution you are looking for.

Since I'm asking all my questions today, can anyone tell me if there is a replacement command for the old express tools tedit? Thanks again.

TEDIT - let's see, that one allowed you to select text of all shapes and sizes and edit it, one after the other right?
I don't think so, but if you turn DBLCLKEDIT to ON, you can edit text just by double clicking on it.

I do double click on text all the time. It just saves some time when I have a whole series of text changes and I can tag them all at once.

I hear ya. I miss that little feature, but I haven't found anything to replace it (doesn't mean it's not there, I just haven't found it)

You can download TextUtilities from the Exchange (http://www.augi.com/exchange/search.asp?page=415). EX0001241. I have one command that allows you to select mutliple dtext and edit them all in a dialog. That way, you can cut/copy/paste between text.

Maybe this command does the trick
_find
it is to find & replace text for hole the drawing or just for the selected parts.

Dtexted is the system variable you are talking about. Set it to (1) if you already haven't.
Have a great day.

The correct number for that is EX001241 :)
