View Full Version : printing curtain wall
is there a way to have just the curtain print as "shadded with edges" and the rest of an elevation print in hidden mode. we want to show our difference between clear glass and spandrel panels, not to mention our 2 tones of glass.
we had put out or CW bid in shadded with edges, and it printed nicely with grey tones, but now we need overall elevations and we don't want to show the rest of the building with shades of grey.
hope this makes sense

What you'll need to do is asign a surface hatch - which can be solid - to materials. You'll need a material for each type of glass or panel.

I've typically assigned shades of gray (solid) to the glass material, with the differing types of glass having a different material name so that it can be assigned via category. It has an upfront time cost but helps a lot later and looks good in elevation.
As for separating the glass out... How about isolating the category (IC) and assigning a differing phase to the glass, then set the view properties for that phase, just for that print?
UPDATE
so we decided to give the glass a material, we tried the solid hatch with the same color as our shaded mode color and then printed that, it works like a charm. we had to change just one of the 4 colors to work nicely, but all in all perfect.
