I have edited my keyboard shortcut file. I'm assuming that if I install a new version of Revit, a new keyboard shortcut file will be installed and I will need to revise that file again. True?
Is there any danger in just overwriting the new file with my older file?

No there is not, but if you are upgrading from an older version (8.1 to 9) make sure that you compare both file since they are not th same. As for simply upgrading to a new build, it shouldnt modify that file but i would still keep a copy in the safe :-)

You have to check and compare the new and the old shortcut txt files overwriting the old you will lost all the shortcuts of new features which were not there in the older version.
