Why do groups slow things down so much?

I made a couple groups of a mullion detail that im repeating about a half dozen times and it slows the system down so much I had to un group them, whats up with that?

Its a long standing problem. You have to be a very patient man/woman to use groups. They just are the wrong solution right now to a big problem. I know the factory is really working on it for the next release(I hope). based on the survey that was floated earlier they are looking for info and must be working on it.

If you can create the grouped elements as a detail component nested into a family it can really speed things up. Not sure if this is an acceptable solution to your problem but it's worked on items for me.

I assume the group is of detail lines? Even when detail lines are grouped they still are looking for associations which is why it bogs the system down.

A detail component is always best for this type of situation as it isn't looking for associations for every line.
