Halftone wall surface pattern

How can you halftone only the surface pattern (ex. brick) of a wall when viewing an elevation?

The option is gray'd out in the visibility/Graphics of that view.

Check the wall structure to find out what material is assigned to the "brick" of your wall assembly, then edit that material's surface pattern settings to change the color of the surface pattern from Black to whatever tone or color you'd like.

Don't you want to be able to adjust the "lineweight", not the color?

If I understand your original query, then changing the color gives you a much more flexible way to achieve a halftone effect. If you are talking about the actual line thickness then I am not aware of a way to achieve what you're after while still using a fill pattern.
