View Full Version : Best Practice for dimensioning large plans?

We have a building that will be split up on multipe plan sheets with matchlines. We will need to dimension each large scale plan, plus dimension an overall plan. Plus during the course of design, we like to have working files to run dimensions strings for checking.

Whats the best way to do this? Dimension each view seperately? How do we handle dimensioning at the match lines? I've tried copying and pasting dimensions from one view to the other, but eventually we get the same dimension copied again and again, and end up with overlapping dimensions.

Just looking for ideas on this. We are still fairly new to Revit and trying to get a handle on it.

Thanks

You're going to start with an overall plan and dimension that accordingly. Then using the callout tool you are going to create enlarged views. Dimension those as you normally would, so, yes, you should dimension each view. I'm not sure I understand your question regarding matchlines.
