I just had the print dialog open to print a view, I changed a few print settings, then I pulled down the box to change printers. As soon as I clicked the selection, Revit just disappeared completely, no warnings, no errors, just *poof* gone. All changes lost of course. Ever happened to anyone before?

Not in Revit, but I have had LT hang up/disappear when changing printer...

Yes it happened to me just yesterday. I was resurrecting an old job that is finally proceeding to CD and was transferring project standards from a new project to this one. Revit disappeared.

I opened another project and did the same thing and all was ok.

Gotta LOVE Windows!

you think it's a Windows thing that would cause the program to close w/o warning?

That would be my best guess... most likely a memory (i.e. RAM) problem. You see this in other Windows applications too (particularly those with heavy memory requirements).

ah well... will be upgrading from 1.5 to 2 GB RAM today :D

I don't think it's lack of RAM that causes the disappearing act but rather "bad" RAM... you might want to check the sticks you already have (there are programs on the net to do this but for the life of me I can't remember what or where they are... though I did see a segment on The Screen Savers a few years ago that demonstrated one if that helps)

What kind of programme I know of few mates that tend find free apps that can check things out for you. I'll ask them the next time I get a chance.

I think this has only happened to me 2 or 3 times in the past couple of years, and I last upgraded RAM almost that long ago, so I don't think the RAM is bad or anything. I'm pretty sure it all came from Dell anyway.

You can never be too sure. I would suggest taking Gregs advice and make sure they are in top form just to be on the safe side. Have a look on the net for Memtest86, Memtest86+, RightMark Memory analyzer which will tell you if there is something wrong with your ram.
