Help with symbolic lines

I have some symbolic lines in a scupper/downspout family that represent the scupper opening in the wall. The symbolic lines are visible in my floor plan (where I don't want them) but they are not visible in my roof plan. The view depth for the roof plan extends down far enough to include the scupper and downspout geometry, yet the symbolic lines aren't there. Anyone know?

My guess is that you may need to do a "save as" to the scupper family, raise the symbolic lines in the family to the height where your cut plane will be in the project file. Load this into the project and the symbolic lines should show up. I had a similar problem with the sybolic lines associated with the dishwasher in the library. I was able to get around it by raising the symbolic lines. I also tried changing from symbolic lines to model lines, but these show up in multiple views and had to be turned off.
