No Star trek here- Check out this problem - Hopefully one of the gurus can tell me what's happening here. I am in construction documents on a project that has pipe bollards to protect drive thru equipment. As you look top of screen to bottom, the bollards evolve into "bandit eyes" and merge. In elevation, all is well.

The bollard is a simple family of a circle swept along a path, both family and project in Revit 61.

There appears to be a fault in the topography in this area also, like a point way out of whack. Is there a "hole" in the data base here or have I done something stupid?

The attached jpg shows the plan with the elevation overlaid (using Photoshop ) with my comments -

Any ideas anyone - Factory?

Thanks for the new site guys, looks really good.

Couple of notes - I'm sure this is part of startup - Tried to attach a 425K jpg image - too big - file attachment size is 97.7K. Don't know of many family files that are that small will this be an issue? Is this limit currently on the gallery also? After reducing the file size, got an error that forum area cannot be written too. Is this a start up problem too? Anyway - all that to say I will attach the referenced jpg when the forum will allow.

Thanks for the new site guys, looks really good. For the moderators, was able to get on the site wil Netscape but not Explorer....

Still getting " File system directory is not writeable" error. - Checked again still can't upload...
We're looking into the attachments issue. Stay tuned.

First try. . . .try changing the view plane hieght to see what happens (move it down 6" say), this will help isolate the problem. I find that if you ask a problem more questions it will answer itself.

Second . . . . Change the the display so that the sweep only shows up in 3d, sections, and elevations, and then create 2 circles in your family to show up in plan.

Third. . . .recreate the family to be 3 different objects. So basicly you have 2 posts, and a cap that is your sweep.

hope this helps.

Thanks for the ideas and I have tried some of them, but I really don't won't a work around, but an answer to why this would happen, but probably won't ever get that answer. In 3d and elevation everything is fine. This family was fine for several days, then on a final plot routine this guy shows up. If I have time I will recreate the family and see if the redefinition will clear it up. If it does, I post same.. Just courious if anyone else has seen anything like this before. Again thanks for your thoughts....

You mentioned topo being out of wack and I would have to agree. It appears the your topo is rising/falling across the 3 bollards and just by coinsidence your view height is lining up at slightly different heights near the underside of the bend and creating the odd shapes. What your seeing is actually completely correct 'if' what I mentioned is the case. I suggest dropping your view height 3" and all should be well. It would be kind of nice to set view height to be in relation to topo or other sloping surface but there currently is no option for this.

Good Call. Exactly as you predicted. I now remember "upping" the cut plane for another purpose. I knew I wasn't that crazy. Glad it was that simple. As the bollards are floor based, now I get to see what each one is tied too....Now to solve the missing wall problem of the Radiosity solution..
