I've drawn some walls in RS2 and put some continuous footings under them. everything worked fine till I started modifying the walls. I moved some walls around and deleted some and even added a few new walls. For the most part the footings moved with the walls and when I add new ones the intersections usually cleaned up, but I have a few footing intersections that just won't clean up. All walls and footings are joined but the problem is still there. Any suggestions?

Hi,
1. Exact same materials in both walls?
2. Exact same elevations at top and bottom?

The continuous wall footing function in RS2 has problems and works only in the most straightforward cases. You may have to resort to using foundation walls as continuous footings.

Also try using the "Edit Wall Joins" tool. Cycle through the different options to clean the joins up as Butt, Miter, and Square off. Make sure that you are joining the walls at there base. In some cases I have created a level with a plan view at top of footings to achieve this. In most cases I have been able to get the majority of the footings to clean up. As Tom said though make sure that they are at the same elevation.

Hey Dave,

Any chance you could post a screen shot of what is happening? Sometimes it makes a difference in the selection order when using the join command. Is this that shear wall stuff you were working on?

thanx for the help guys. I checked the walls and everything was identical, so I used the "edit wall joins" command and that seemed to do the trick.

Rick, I ran into this footing thing again while I was working on the shearwalls. It's the same problem I had on my other project that I sent to Betsy, but haven't heard back from her on, so I thought I'd try Augi.

Here are some examples of footings cleaning up. If the bottoms or tops don't match, there will be a line left. All I used was the join tool.
