We have a user that wants to be able to turn off a block of text that may be used at a later date. It doesn't look like one can define subcategories for Text Blocks. Any ideas?

You may be able to use a symbol family w/ a visibility parameter.

You might do a workset for it. Design options possibly? (Not sure how they interact with text).

Create a text type called "invisible" (or something) change it's color to be RGB (254,255,255).

When you need to find it again, you can invert revit's background color under settings>Options>graphics. Or right click select all instances and change it to a visible type.

If it's possible, draw a filled region with invisible lines and no pattern and hide it.

This won't work, text is always on top.

Text doesn't have a workset-specify option.

Options don't affect text and other annotations, which are view specific.

Hey, that's pretty tricky. Also, you can change the text's color properties to get it to show again. Unfortunately, if your text is over something with color, it still shows.

This will not preserve location.

I think the best you can do is duplicate the view (or in the case of a level, create one below everything and paste the text in - so there is nothing in that view except the text - it is a "text holder" level) and name it "with that text".

Revit does not support subcategories for text, unfortunately. Don't ask me why. They do for drafting lines - seems they should do it for text types and dimension types as well - I would like that. Got to go put it on the wish list.
