Good Day

I have a Acer Aspire 3000 running XP Pro SP1
Have installed Autocad 2007

When I launch Autocad 2007 and clear the welcome dialogs etc and finally get to the main window, none of the Tool-Bars load
When trying to load this running MENULOAD from the command prompt and then browsing and selecting the ACAD.CUI file and then clicking on LOAD
Nothing happens...The Cursor flashes for a second and nothing happens
Also Windows Event log has no errors logged while trying to load this CUI file

I have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times each time with the same issue,
Some more details are as follows:
Acad.cui file size - 2.215KB in size
Product Version - A.54.0
No Service Packs installed, not sure if any are out yet
Running in Demo mode
Other installed apps:
Autodesk Revit Building 8
Autodesk Inventor Pro 10

I dont see any Anti Virus or Firewall's installed, also not sure if this could be the cause

Could some one suggest a fix please
Thanks

When I launch Autocad 2007 and clear the welcome dialogs etc and finally get to the main window, none of the Tool-Bars load

But are the pull-down menus there? File, Edit, View, Insert, Format, etc....?

If so, have you tried the following command sequence?

Command: -TOOLBAR
Enter toolbar name or [ALL]: STANDARD
Enter an option [Show/Hide/Left/Right/Top/Bottom/Float] <Show>: _F
Enter new position (screen coordinates) <0,0>: 200,200
Enter number of rows for toolbar <1>:
Command:

Once you get one toolbar loaded, you can right click in the toolbar area and choose your toolbars to show/hide from there.

There is the following only:
File> New>open>Close>save etc
View> Toolbar - which does nothing
Window> Close>Close All etc
Help> help

Command: -TOOLBAR - works
Enter toolbar name or [ALL]: STANDARD - works
Enter an option [Show/Hide - only show and hide, use show

Does nothing after this
Goes back to command:

Any more ideas?

Thanks so far

Ok. Only having File, View, Window, and Help indicates that there is no menu loaded.

If you open OPTIONS, go to the FILES tab, and navigate down to "Customization Files", then look under "Main Customization File" - what is listed?

Should be something like:

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2007\R17.0\enu\support\acad

You could also try copying a virgin copy of the menu from your \UserDataCache directory, overwriting the copy listed above. Then try loading it again.

One more thing, you said in your first post that you had used the MENULOAD command. Use the MENU command instead. This loads your main menu. MENULOAD is used to load partial menus.

Sorry where do i find Options?

ok found it

Yes my path is the same as yours

Also, if i do Menu i get: a window that allows me to select a CUI file
if i do this Acad reports invalid in the command prompt
Should i try get a diff Acad.CUI file and try that?

Sounds like a corrupt or otherwise damaged CUI file.

Try the copy of "acad.cui" located in the \UserDataCache directory, typically the full path there is C:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2007\UserDataCache\Support

But copy it first, back to the original location of your "acad.cui", don't load the file that lives in the \UserDataCache location.

Ok after reinstalling like 3 times, would it not of copied a new file off the disk as well?

Going to install on a diff machine quick and then going to replace the Acad.CUI file with one that I know works, will also try your idea

Also considering doing a filesync to verify all the files are the same on the 2 machines

What are the chances of the issue being a Windows SP2 not being installed issue?

Hi "lloyd.112855" ( Sorry, I do not know your real name )

Please note I have *moved* this thread from the AutoCAD 2007 General (http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay.php?f=342) forum to this one, as I believe it will be better served here.

Thanks, Mike

Could it be a problem with his graphic card? At least all we know is
I have a Acer Aspire 3000 running XP Pro SP1
I remember that we had something somewhere in the forums on types of graphic card compatible with AutoCAD 2007... but I just don't remember where to find the thread or material. Maybe a comparison could help.

Could it be a problem with his graphic card? I don't see how a graphics card would cause direct file corruption.

I have experienced a similar problem with a cui file which wouldn't appear in my menu bar although it would seem to load properly in the menuload dialogue box. Then I loaded it with CUILOAD and the problem was resolved and the new menu appeared in the menu bar. Maybe you would like to give this a try. Use CUILOAD instead of MENULOAD

I know this is an old thread, but I have just experienced the same problem. Switched on Autocad 2007 and no toolbars and just basic menu. I checked the acad.cui file and it was showing 0kb in size. Loaded acad.bak.cui for now and seems to be working O.K.

Using Windows XP Pro with SP2 and the previous session closed down normally.

Yep,

I see this occasionally with ACAD 2009 on a Vista 64 bit machine. Usually no other action from my part but closing and opening up AutoCAD again. It might be caused by having several instances of AutoCAD open at the same time but I have yet to see any pattern. It seems AutoCAD in some instances is corrupting acad.cui for whatever reason.

Navigating to the Support path and reverting back to the backup acad.cui will work around unless the backup file is corrupted as well.

Cheers,
