I know this thread may be moved else where but I thought I would ask here. I only plot in black and white using Revit structural 3.0. I would like to purchase a plotter that works well with Revit. Here is the twist. I only need black and white. I have absolutely no use for color. In your experience. Is there a plotter (I don't care what brand) that works well with Revit, that can handle up to E size sheets and only does black and white? What do you do in your offices? My old office had a Xerox plotter that was black and white. It spit out a sheet every 3 seconds. It also cost more than any car I have ever bought. In your experience, does what I want exist for a reasonable fee. It doesn't need to plot super fast either. Even a sheet every minute or so is fine with me. I just hit plot and go for a hike or do some errands.

Hi,
Your plotter choice depends upon your volume. How many sheets a day do you plot?

We use a Xerox 6050 which handles Revit files fine.

I'm fairly new however business is increasing about 20% a month as I get more efficient. I would usualy plot 90 sheets a week. In an ideal world, I would like to keep the plotter under $1500 but it's not an ideal world. Like I said before, I have no use for color and don't really want to pay for this feature. I just need a simple plotter that can handle revit files well and isn't extreamly slow. A sheet every couple minutes is fine with me. I would just hit plot and go eat dinner. Each time I send plots to the local printing service, its about $100 bucks. The machine would pay for itself fairly quick. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
How about an HP Designjet. I think that is appropriate for your volume, and price considerations. I am not sure how well it does with Revit though.

The HP DesignJets are very good. Work horses to the nth degree. I'm sure they would be as good with the Revit software as they are with everything else. I would recommend talking to your local resellers and setting up some test runs with the HP DesignJet, a lower end Oce, and a lower end Xerox. Somewhere in there you will find a good deal.

Also be sure to negotiate with whoever you purchase from. Not so much the price of the plotter but service contracts and paper supplies; you can make up a huge difference in how much you pay per roll of paper....

good luck!

No problem at all, another thing you might look into is refurbished HP DesignJets. I think you can check them out at the HP website....

Hi there!
You may consider, say, Encad T200. It's color but You could mount 3 extras black cartridges (instead of color ones) and than, with 4 black cartridges, You can increase the speed of the already fast plotter.
