The following works for me in 2006, but not in 2007.

Open the "Points-3.dwg" in the Tutorials. Right-click on the "Storm Manholes" point group, and select "Edit Points". Click on the "Point Styles" column header, and select "Edit...". Change the Point Style to anything, such as "Catch Basin". (These are the exact steps in the Tutorial found in "Autodesk Civil 3D Tutorials->Points->Displaying Points->Changing the Style of a Point Group".)

In Civil-3D 2006, this works. In 2007, I get a hung program that I must kill from the Windows task manager. It doesn't seem to be running any commands or anything - it's just that nothing works. All I can do is scroll the Point Inspector window, and when I mouseover tool palettes, they highlight. If I let it sit, it will eventually do an Autosave. But everything else is just dead, and I must kill it from Windows Task Manager.

If I try to change just one point, instead of the whole column at once, Civil-3D takes a while to process, then comes back to life. It doesn't seem to make any change at all.

On the other hand, if I right-click on the "Storm Manholes" point group and select "Properties", then change the "Point Style" to "Catch Basin", it works just fine. I see all the Catch Basin symbols appear in the drawing, just as expected. Change them to "Storm Manhole", and all the symbols in the drawing change to storm manholes, as expected. It just seem that changing the Point Style in the point itself causes problems.

Others say they have discovered this as well, so it sounds like it is definitely a bug in 2007.

As a follow-up, it seems as though changing one point at a time works fine. It's just when changing the Point Style for the whole group at once that Civil-3D goes to La La Land.
