View Full Version : C3d Memory Issues?

Anyone here experiencing issues with C3D hogging system memory, and not releasing them, unless you exit the program?
In my case, with the size of projects we are working on, I would have to exit the program every 10 minutes. I tried the memory management and viewports caching settings, and various settings to optimize the graphics card and the system page file, and I'm at the end of my wits.

It appears that Autodesk is pointing fingers at Microsoft, and they point right back at Autodesk.

Autodesk claims that there is no problem, but suggests upgrading windows to a 64 bit version, which is currently being resisted at the office.

Does anyone know more about this, have some more literature then what I can find in autodesk forums? Any experiences with the same?

We do work on large projects with large amounts of data, mainly with surfaces and volume calculations. In C3D 07 can't do one/tenth of what I was able to do in LDD 06.

System I'm running is Gateway with AMD Athlon x64, 4 gig of memory, Nvidia geforce 7800 GT, windows Media Center Edition. Hopefully upgrading to x64 version of windows will help. Did anyone try?

I don't think the use of XP Media Center is encouraged by Autodesk. I have had some success with 2006 by minimizing the Civil 3D session and then restoring it. Memory usage before can be 500,000+ and around 20,000 after the restore.
