When features are updated in a new version, such as the new Revit 9 keynoting, an easy or automatic way to convert in-progress projects is imperative.

We've got dozens of existing keynotes in a project, and the old Revit 8.1 keynoting is gone so we have to tediously redo them. I can't find any way to even semi-automate this, so we'll have to retype them or cut and paste one description at a time into a new keynote file, then delete and replace each keynote.

The time this takes is lost profit. I don't want to even repeat the project managers reaction, but it was pretty bad, and this doesn't reflect well on our trial project.

I certainly hope future upgrades are implimented in a less painful manner.

Typically if we are pretty far along into a project we will not upgrade the project. We have a couple of projects we are still doing in 8.1 that we will not upgrade at all.

Yeah, but we wanted the expanded Detail features and other new stuff, and there was no warning that it would render existing keynotes useless.

I know what you mean...the new stuff is very tempting.
