Hi all,
I made a tag with a few parameters which are editable. In some instances where I want to leave a blank space I find I can't because a question mark appears instead. Is there a way to suppress the question mark as in the case of a title block tag? Thanks.

The question marks should only show when selecting the titleblock. They do not print...
Unless of course you've actually typed question marks in...

Mr Spot,
Thanks for the reply but I think I didn't ask the question properly. I know that's the case with titleblocks, but in this case this tag I made is an electrical equipment tag and the question marks appear even when the tag is not selected, and I want to leave them blank in some instances. For now what I've done is type in a fullstop (period) in place of the question mark, but if there's a way to suppress the question mark I'd really like to know it. Thanks.

Odd i'm not experiencing that here... Shows up as blank when no value is entered on an electrical tag...
What version of Revit are you using?

Kwong,
What version of Revit are you using? At about V7.0 a blank label will not be shown. Are you using a current version of that family? It may be an old family that didn't upgrade correctly. Delete it from your project and reload it after upgrading or using the current one from the most recent version of Revit.
Good luck.

Mr Spot,
It seems odd but 'm using 8.1, and Archjake, I've given your suggestion a try, but still no good.
Can you think of any other reason for this ?

I took a (brief) second look at this. You will get a question mark when the tag is referring to the type mark of the object. In my opinion this is a good idea because it lets the user know that this object does not have a type mark associated with the object. A lot of the time this can cause scheduling problems if there are multiple objects without a type mark associated. If you have ever seen a schedule with a blank first row, this is where it is grouping all the families.
Once you give them a type mark they will then drop down and show the values of their parameters.
If you don't want to see the question mark I'd say turn the tag off.
When a tag is using a custom parameter and it is not filled it it will not display the question mark unless you click on the tag.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for taking the time archjake, I've had another look at your first suggestion and decided to make an entire new tag and the question marks don't appear! I compared the 2 and they appear exactly the same. Anyhow I'll just delete the offending tag.
